Here superclassifies epilogue of 2010 divided by" unstable "categories ... In the previous post, during the cut and paste I forgot to put a quick comment on the Black Keys (correctly entered in the category New Classics), authors of the excellent Brothers (Nonesuch). As always I am ready to fix it, telling you that our duo churns out a disc of mature blues rock contaminated with interesting shots of funk and soul. Happy reading and see you in January 2012 ...

Sharon Jones , accompagnata dagli impeccabili Dap-Kings , porta le lancette del tempo agli anni 60 con un soul elegante romantic and dirty here and there by vigorous injection of funky. Gil Scott-Heron is with us again and well: that is enough to get excited again with his sound art. The brilliant producer and multi-instrumentalist Shawn Lee , with assistance from friends of his singers, he managed to create a powerful album of funk & soul with psychedelic veins. Simone Felice with its The Duke & The King , moves the elegant folk rock of early Shores increasingly soul. The Kings Go Forth album is a concentrate of pure energy funk & soul, while the legendary Toots with its Maytals continues churning out delicious album where reggae and soul of Stax school are lovingly hand in hand. The veteran hip-hop, the Roots , as well as participate in the dazzling disk John Legend, churn out another chapter of their outstanding musical history: pure class, great musicians. And finally a wonderful anomaly: Michael Leonhart. This artist, after an illustrious career as an arranger-producer-musician on the side of names that are shaking the wrists ( Steely Dan, Brian Eno, David Byrne , just to name a few), recorded a hard disk cataloging. In the album are Afro-beat, sprinkled with funk, sweet ballads, jazz che filtra con atmosfere psichedeliche e suoni etno.

Afrocubism - Afrocubism - World Circuit ; Alasdair Roberts - Too Long In This Condition - Drag City ; Ali Farka Tourè & Toumani Diabatè - Ali & Tourè - World Circuit ; Bellowhead - Hedonism – Navigator ; Chumbawamba - ABCDEFG – Westpark ; Dirtmusic - BKO – Glitterhouse ; Imperial Tiger Orchestra – Addis Abeba – Mental Groove ; Lobi Traoré - Rainy Season Blues - Glitterhouse Records ; Lokua Kanza - Nkolo - World Village ; Marcos Valle - Estatica - Far Out ; Sierra Leones Refugee All Stars - Rise & Shine – Cumbanch a ; Victor Démé - Deli - Chapa Blues ; Vinicius Cantuaria - Samba Carioca – Naïve ; Up, Bustle & Out - Soliloquy - Ninja Tune.
Come sempre la musica può lenire grandi dolori; è accaduto ai musicisti della Sierra Leones Refugee All Stars , Who met in a refugee camp in Guinea, during the terrible civil war that devastated their country, almost as a reaction to so much pain, their music is positive and cheerful, so contaminated by the mellow rhythms of reggae. Alasdair Roberts, Bellowhead and Chumbawamba can be toghether for the reinterpretation of musical tradition which make Anglo-Scots-Irish is more respectful of the past that the Scottish minstrel Alasdair , more colorful and that of the band Bellowhead , sarcastic and unconventional that of Chumbawamba. Two samples of Brazilian popular music leave their mark in 2010: Vinicius Cantuaria , with a disc of elegant bossa nova tinged with jazz (thanks to the contribution of and Bill Frisell Brad Mehldau ) and veteran Marcos Valle, author of a bossa nova more pop, with tasty psychedelic grafts , samba rhythms and temptations funkeggianti. The Up, Bustle & Out contaminate their trip hop sounds coming from Arabia, Turkey and South America, confirming once again that music in globalization is all well and good ...

Other endless world of jazz is that, with all its ramifications and possible contamination. With this short list does not pretend to exhaust a sound universe so vast, I quote only the artists who have managed to excite me ... Let's start with the amazing virtuoso uvula, Bobby McFerrin signing a sumptuous work, the sign of a chameleon use of this possibility choral voice with strong colors of Africa. Wonderful disc Cassandra Wilson (reworked in the studio with live recordings), one of the best contemporary jazz vocalist, accompanied by a group of excellent musicians (the pianist deserve mention Jonathan Batiste and guitarist Marvin Sewell), Cassandra goes through the usual class jazz standards to original songs, from pop songs, classics of the blues, eventually giving a treat to all lovers of Afro-American music. The tireless bassist Charlie Haden signing an elegant tribute to the ladies of jazz and paired with Keith Jarrett us a distillate of aural emotions. Trombone Shorty (Troy Andrews ) is the author of a lively disc that manages to blend the musical traditions of his native New Orleans (or hot jazz er'n'b) with more modern sounds such as soul, funk, l 'hip-hop, not disdaining energetic injections of rock, in the end his music is original, exciting and contagious. We end with Elephant9 , dazzling jazz-rock trio with Norwegian progressive attitudes, which may remind some experience music typical of contamination of the sixties (think of the Tony Williams Lifetime of ..).

Elliott Sharp / Henry Kaiser - Electric Willie A Tribute To Willie Dixon - Yellowbird ; Eric Bibb - Booker's Guitar - Telarc ; Harper - Stand Together - Blind Pig ; James Cotton - Giant - Alligator ; Jimmie Vaughan - Plays Blues, Ballads & Favorites - Shout! Factory ; Moreland & Arbuckle - Flood - Telarc ; Otis Taylor - Clovis People - Vol.3 - Telarc ; The Mannish Boys - Shake For Me - Delta Groove ; T- Ford Model - The Ladies Man - Alive Natural Sound
conclude with one of my oldest passions: the blues. I like to recall a number of old stars that shine at least as a harmonica player James Cotton , always able to move with his Chicago style, as the ninety T-Model Ford that brings to life the sounds of Delta beautifully as Otis Taylor with its hypnotic blues (John Lee Hooker debtor) always willing to confront the folk and rock. The Mannish Boys, a true blues collective open, do a research on the sounds of the past, making it fresh and engaging. Jimmie Vaughan is the author of an elegant album that once again pays tribute to his passion for the r'n'be jump blues. Moreland & Arbuckle contaminate the power of fierce blues of the hills of northern Mississippi, not forgetting at times acoustic moments and rurali. Finiamo in bellezza e originalità con l’omaggio che Elliot Sharp , accompagnato da alcuni amici musicisti ( Henry Kaiser , Eric Mingus , Queen Esther fra gli others) did to the music of the great composer and bassist Willie Dixon blues ; his guitar to enjoy moments of improvisation and experimentation that give new life to classic stranoti.
