It 'true that American musicians have always had a simple and straightforward (read nothing to conflict) with its own musical tradition. Over time the critics have often been ingenious in coining new terms (American folk music revival, country rock, outlaw country, Americana, alternative country) to explain this indissoluble bond that unites young artists with musicians from the past, ancient and contemporary. The fact is that even today continues to be this fatal attraction to the traditional sound, then this year came out great albums that are inspired by the music I have always echoed in the Great Plains of North America. The young Californian Avi Buffalo with their self-titled debut were matched to the sound of indie-rock bands like the Shins , but there is no doubt that there is an aftertaste reminiscent of the sixties to the great stars of country-rock (Neil Young and Byrds in the first place), the Band Of Horses confirmed by the group impressive sound with their beautiful vocal harmonies, the "master" Bonnie Prince Billy is accompanied by the Cairo Gang (that emits Kelly & friends) to make his electric thin songwriting, creating a sound with suggestions to CSN & Y , the Deer Tick conquer us with a melancholy folk-rock and dirt, the Delta Spirit, from San Diego, I read with sincerity of the fathers freak folk (Dylan all). Justin Townes Earle , Patrick Park and Ray LaMontagne, each with its own style, revive the ancient tradition of folk singer, Walter Schreifels also , musical experiences from light years away from American popular music (more hardcore), started his own and let yourself be enchanted by the sirens of the altar country, with excellent results, as well as in the album revived Radar Brothers feels stronger vein of Americana.
